Larin Earns Canada First Ever World Cup Point Against Bosnia

Group Stage · Group B · BMO Field, Toronto · June 12, 2026

Cyle Larin came off the bench to give co-hosts Canada their first ever World Cup point, scoring two minutes after coming on in a 1-1 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto.

Bosnia went ahead in the 21st minute when Sead Kolašinac flicked on a corner and Jovo Lukić headed in. Canada had the better of the chances but kept running into Bosnia’s defense. Jonathan David fired straight at goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj in the first half, and Bosnia’s defenders blocked and cleared several more chances.

Jesse Marsch’s changes made the difference. Larin replaced Tani Oluwaseyi in the 76th minute and finished from close range in the 78th minute after Promise David’s assist. Canada had 61% of the ball, nine corners to four, and 13 shots to eight. Expected goals were close, though, at 1.23 to 0.96.

Canada lost all three games at both of their previous World Cups, in 1986 and 2022. A crowd of 43,002 saw them finally get off the mark.
