Saudi Arabia National Football Team

مُنْتَخَب السُّعُودِيَّة لِكُرَّةُ الْقَدَم
( Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF))
Founded in 1955

The Saudi Arabia men’s national football team represents Saudi Arabia in international competition and is governed by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. A member of FIFA and competing within the Asian Football Confederation, the team is widely known as the Green Falcons, a reference to their traditional green-and-white colors and national identity.

Saudi Arabia is regarded as one of Asia’s most successful national teams. The Green Falcons have won the AFC Asian Cup three times, in 1984, 1988, and 1996, and have reached the tournament final on six occasions. The national team has also qualified for the FIFA World Cup seven times since making its debut in 1994, reflecting long-term consistency at the highest level of Asian and global competition.

The team’s most notable World Cup performance came in 1994, when Saudi Arabia reached the round of 16 after victories over Belgium and Morocco, becoming only the second Arab nation to advance to the knockout stage at a World Cup. Saudi Arabia has also left a lasting mark on global tournaments through landmark results, including a historic victory over eventual champions Argentina at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, one of the most memorable upsets in tournament history.

In the modern era, Saudi Arabia continues to expand its global football presence, supported by major hosting roles on the international calendar. The country is set to host the AFC Asian Cup in 2027 and the FIFA World Cup in 2034, milestones that underline Saudi Arabia’s growing influence in world football. With a decorated continental record and renewed international ambition, the Green Falcons remain a cornerstone of Asian football on the global stage.
