Tunisia National Football Team

نسور قرطاج
(Tunisian Football Federation)
Founded in 1957

The Tunisia men’s national football team represents Tunisia in international competition and is governed by the Tunisian Football Federation. A member of FIFA and competing within the Confederation of African Football, the team is widely known as the Eagles of Carthage and is recognized for its white home kit and strong regional identity in African and Arab football.

Tunisia has established itself as one of Africa’s most consistent national teams, qualifying for the FIFA World Cup on six occasions and appearing in the Africa Cup of Nations a record 17 consecutive times between 1994 and 2025. The nation made history at the 1978 FIFA World Cup by becoming the first African and Arab team to win a World Cup match, defeating Mexico 3–1, a milestone that helped elevate African football on the global stage.

At the continental level, Tunisia’s greatest success came with victory at the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations, which secured qualification for the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup. The team has also found success in regional competitions, winning the African Nations Championship in 2011 and the inaugural FIFA Arab Cup in 1963, while remaining a regular presence in major international tournaments across multiple generations.

In the modern era, Tunisia continues to combine defensive organization with tournament experience, highlighted by a historic 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign in which they became the first team to qualify without conceding a goal. With a proud footballing tradition, strong regional influence, and sustained international relevance, the Eagles of Carthage remain a cornerstone of African football on the world stage.
