Haiti National Football Team

Équipe d’Haïti de football, Ekip Foutbòl Ayiti
(Fédération Haïtienne de Football)
Founded in 1904

The Haiti men’s national football team represents Haiti in international competition and is governed by the Fédération Haïtienne de Football. A member of FIFA since 1934 and a founding member of CONCACAF, Haiti is widely known by its nickname, Les Grenadiers, and holds one of the longest and most distinctive football traditions in the Caribbean region.

Haiti has achieved several historic milestones on the continental stage, most notably winning the 1973 CONCACAF Championship, making it the only Caribbean nation to claim a senior continental title. That triumph secured Haiti’s first-ever qualification for the FIFA World Cup, where they competed in the 1974 tournament against elite global opposition. The national team has also enjoyed regional success, capturing multiple Caribbean and Central American titles across different eras.

In modern competition, Haiti has re-emerged as a competitive force within CONCACAF. The team reached the semifinals of the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup, one of the strongest performances by a Caribbean nation in the tournament’s history, and qualified for the centennial Copa América in 2016. These results reflected a renewed period of stability and competitive growth at the international level.

Haiti’s football journey reached another major milestone with qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking their second appearance at the tournament and reaffirming their unique place in Caribbean football history. Combining deep-rooted tradition with renewed international presence, Les Grenadiers continue to represent resilience, pride, and enduring ambition on the global stage.
