Ounahi Double Ends Canada’s Run as Morocco Reach Quarterfinals

Round of 16 · NRG Stadium, Houston · July 4, 2026

Azzedine Ounahi scored twice as Morocco beat Canada 3-0 in Houston to reach the quarterfinals.

After a goalless first half, Ounahi opened the scoring five minutes after the break, set up by Achraf Hakimi. He added a second in the 82nd minute from Brahim Díaz’s pass, and Díaz then set up substitute Soufiane Rahimi eight minutes into stoppage time. Rahimi had also hit the woodwork.

Morocco were ruthless, scoring three goals from five shots, four of them on target. Canada won 11 corners but rarely tested Yassine Bounou, who made three saves.

Canada’s best World Cup run ends in the Round of 16. Morocco will face Paraguay or France in the quarterfinals.
