Rumor: Neymar To USA Could Be Sooner Than Expected

Neymar Linked to Shock MLS Move as World Cup Decision Looms

Neymar could be heading for a surprising move ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup—but his immediate focus remains on getting back to the biggest stage in international football.

According to reports, FC Cincinnati have entered early discussions over a potential blockbuster move for the Brazilian star, signaling what could become one of the biggest transfers in MLS history.

MLS Rumored Move in Early Stages

Talks between Cincinnati and Neymar’s representatives are still described as “very early,” with the club evaluating both the financial demands and the player’s willingness to make the move.

Neymar is currently with Santos FC, where he returned after a brief and injury-hit spell in Saudi Arabia with Al Hilal SFC.

A deal would not be simple.

Cincinnati currently does not have an open designated player slot, meaning significant roster moves would likely be required to make room for a player of Neymar’s stature and salary.

World Cup Comeback Still in Play

Despite uncertainty surrounding his club future, Neymar’s biggest goal remains clear: returning to the Brazil national team.

He has not played for Brazil national football team since October 2023, when he suffered a torn ACL in a World Cup qualifier.

However, there is growing optimism.

Davide Ancelotti, assistant coach and son of Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti, recently confirmed that Neymar “has a chance” to make the squad.

The final roster is expected to be announced on May 18, leaving Neymar with a limited window to prove his fitness and form.

A Critical Run of Matches Ahead

With no more international breaks before the squad announcement, Neymar’s World Cup hopes will depend entirely on his performances with Santos.

The club still has a packed schedule ahead:

  • Brazilian Serie A fixtures
  • Copa do Brasil ties
  • Copa Sudamericana group matches

In total, Neymar could have around 15 matches to make his case before the final decision is made.

Brazil Still Values His Legacy

Even with injury setbacks, Neymar’s place in Brazilian history remains unmatched.

He is the country’s all-time leading scorer, with 79 goals in 129 appearances—surpassing legends like Pelé and Ronaldo.

That experience and pedigree could play a major role in selection, especially for a tournament where leadership and composure are critical.

Off-Field Santos Legal Issues Add Complexity

Neymar’s situation at Santos is not without complications.

The club is currently facing controversy surrounding an £18 million debt linked to Neymar’s image rights company, sparking legal challenges and internal instability.

While not directly tied to his on-field performance, the situation adds another layer of uncertainty to his future.

What’s Next

Neymar’s path forward remains wide open.

  • A potential MLS move
  • A push for a World Cup return
  • Ongoing club uncertainty in Brazil

All of it will be decided in the coming weeks.

I think we all hope Neymar can find form in time for the 2026 World Cup Finals.
