Canada Soccer Monitoring Alphonso Davies Injury in Contact With Bayern Munich

Canada Soccer says it remains in close communication with Bayern Munich regarding the status of national team captain Alphonso Davies after the star defender suffered a new injury while playing for the German club.

Davies was injured during Bayern Munich’s 3-2 Bundesliga victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, where he left the match in the second half after sustaining a muscle injury. The club later confirmed the Canadian international will be sidelined “for the time being.”

Medical Teams in Communication

Canada Soccer said its national team medical staff is working closely with Bayern’s doctors to monitor Davies’ recovery and determine his availability for the upcoming international window.

Canada Soccer confirmed its medical staff is “in close communication” with Bayern Munich’s medical team regarding Davies’ condition.

No final decision has been made about whether the left-back will be available for Canada’s next matches.

Upcoming Matches for Canada

Canada is scheduled to host two international friendlies in the upcoming window. The Canadian men’s national team will face Iceland on March 28 and Tunisia on March 31 at BMO Field in Toronto.

The roster for those matches is expected to be announced in the coming weeks once Davies’ medical status becomes clearer.

Injury Comes After Long Recovery

The latest setback comes after Davies recently returned from a lengthy absence caused by a serious knee injury suffered while playing for Canada the previous year.

The Bayern Munich defender missed nearly nine months during his recovery before returning to club action earlier in the season.

Key Player for Canada’s World Cup Hopes

Davies remains one of the most important players for the Canadian national team as the country prepares to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside the United States and Mexico.

The dynamic left-back has been a central figure in Canada’s rise on the international stage and serves as captain of the national team.

For now, Canada Soccer will continue monitoring the situation alongside Bayern Munich as both sides prioritize the player’s recovery ahead of a busy year of international competition.
