Canada to Host Iceland and Tunisia in Toronto as World Cup Preparations Continue

Canada Soccer has confirmed that the Canada men’s national soccer team will host two international friendlies at BMO Field in Toronto as part of its preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Canada will face Iceland national football team on March 28, 2026, followed by a match against Tunisia national football team on March 31, 2026. Both games will take place at BMO Field and are part of the team’s ongoing “Road to 2026” preparation program.

Important Home Matches Before the World Cup

The matches provide Canada with valuable preparation time ahead of the World Cup, which the country will co-host alongside the United States and Mexico.

Head coach Jesse Marsch emphasized the importance of playing these games in front of home supporters.

“These matches are an important part of our preparation for the World Cup,” Marsch said. “Having the chance to play them at home is huge for us.”

Both matches are expected to draw strong crowds as Canadian fans prepare to support the team during the buildup to the global tournament.

Match Schedule at BMO Field

The March international window will feature four matches across two matchdays at BMO Field:

  • March 28 — Canada vs Iceland (1:00 PM ET)

  • March 28 — Haiti vs Tunisia (8:00 PM ET)

  • March 31 — Haiti vs Iceland (12:30 PM ET)

  • March 31 — Canada vs Tunisia (7:30 PM ET)

The additional matches were arranged so Iceland and Tunisia could also play Haiti while in Toronto during the international window.

Road to 2026 Continues

Canada’s World Cup preparations will continue later in the year as the national team also plans additional friendlies ahead of the tournament.

Canada Soccer previously confirmed that the team will play Uzbekistan national football team in Edmonton on June 1, 2026, with another pre-World Cup match expected to be held in Montréal shortly afterward.

For Canada, these matches represent key opportunities to finalize tactics, evaluate squad depth, and build momentum before hosting the world’s biggest football tournament.

With the 2026 World Cup approaching, playing in front of home supporters could provide an important boost as Canada prepares for one of the most historic moments in the country’s football history.
