Carlo Ancelotti Hit With Another Setback Ahead of Brazil Friendlies

Brazil’s preparations for upcoming international friendlies have suffered another setback as injuries continue to impact several key players ahead of the next international window.

Right-back Vanderson has reportedly suffered a muscle injury while playing for AS Monaco in Ligue 1 during a match against Paris Saint‑Germain. According to reports from ESPN Brazil journalist Felipe Silva, the defender could be sidelined for up to four weeks.

The injury is a significant concern for Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti as Vanderson had been included in the preliminary squad list for Brazil’s upcoming friendlies in the United States.

Brazil Dealing With Multiple Injury Concerns

Vanderson joins a growing list of players unavailable for the Seleção. Monaco teammate Caio Henrique is also unavailable, while two players from Real Madrid — defender Éder Militão and forward Rodrygo — are currently sidelined with injuries.

With several regular contributors missing, Brazil’s coaching staff may need to look deeper into the squad to fill important positions during the upcoming international fixtures.

Friendlies Against France and Croatia

Brazil is scheduled to play two high-profile friendlies in the United States later this month. The Seleção will face France national football team on March 26 before taking on Croatia national football team on March 31.

The matches will provide an opportunity for Ancelotti to evaluate alternative options within the squad as Brazil continues preparing for major competitions.

Several players from Brazilian club Cruzeiro Esporte Clube are reportedly being considered for the squad as potential replacements. These include defender Fabrício Bruno, left-back Kaiki, and forward Kaio Jorge.

Final Preparations Before the World Cup

Brazil will also play a send-off match against Panama national football team on May 31 at the iconic Maracanã Stadium before beginning its campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In the tournament group stage, Brazil is scheduled to face Morocco national football team on June 13, Haiti national football team on June 19, and Scotland national football team on June 24. Those matches will be played across host cities including New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Miami.

Despite the injury concerns, Brazil remains one of the favorites heading into the tournament, and the upcoming friendlies will be crucial for testing the squad’s depth before the world’s biggest competition begins.
