South Korea Coach Praises Players’ Dedication Ahead of World Cup Preparations

South Korea head coach Hong Myung‑bo has praised the commitment and work ethic shown by his players as the national team continues building toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking ahead of a friendly match against Ghana national football team at Seoul World Cup Stadium, Hong said he has been encouraged by the attitude displayed by the squad both on and off the pitch.

Strong Year for the Taegeuk Warriors

The South Korea men’s national football team has enjoyed a productive year under Hong’s leadership. Since returning for his second stint as head coach in 2024, the team has compiled a record of seven wins, three draws, and two losses during the 2025 international calendar.

Hong said the team set several objectives for the November international window and hoped to close out the year with a positive result for supporters.

“We will try to deliver a win for our fans to finish off the year,” Hong said ahead of the match.

Focus on World Cup Preparation

While acknowledging that no national team can be perfectly prepared months before a World Cup, Hong said he is optimistic about the squad’s progress.

He highlighted the players’ discipline and understanding of tactical responsibilities as key factors in the team’s development. According to the coach, the dedication shown by the squad throughout the year has been among the strongest he has seen during his managerial career.

Hong also emphasized that maintaining focus and fitness will be crucial as South Korea approaches football’s biggest tournament.

Building Momentum for 2026

South Korea remains one of Asia’s most consistent international teams and will aim to carry its strong work ethic into the next stage of competition.

With experienced stars such as Son Heung‑min and rising talents like Lee Kang‑in, the Taegeuk Warriors hope to combine veteran leadership with emerging creativity as they prepare for the 2026 tournament.

For Hong Myung-bo, the dedication shown by the squad provides confidence that South Korea can continue improving as the World Cup approaches.
