Norway National Football Team

Norges herrelandslag i fotball
(Norwegian Football Federation)
Founded in 1902

The Norway men’s national football team represents Norway in international competition and is governed by the Norwegian Football Federation. A member of FIFA and competing within UEFA, Norway plays its home matches at Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo and is commonly known as Landslaget.

Norway has qualified for the FIFA World Cup on four occasions, appearing in 1938, 1994, 1998, and securing a return to the tournament for the 2026 edition. The national team has also made one appearance at the UEFA European Championship, at Euro 2000. Among Norway’s most distinctive international records is its unbeaten history against Brazil, making it the only national team never to have lost to the five-time world champions.

The team’s most prominent modern-era performances came in the 1990s, when Norway established itself as a competitive European side and qualified for consecutive World Cups in 1994 and 1998. That period marked the high point of sustained tournament success for the program, following earlier achievements that included a bronze medal at the 1936 Olympic Games.

After a prolonged absence from major tournaments following Euro 2000, Norway re-emerged on the global stage by qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In the modern era, the national team continues to blend a strong footballing tradition with renewed ambition, aiming to translate talent and historical pedigree into consistent success at the highest international level.
